This Is Not a Joke.

These are all of my workout DVDs and tapes. Is this more than the average person has? I don't know. I have no excuse. Hey, I have to burn off some of the calories I eat.
I have a small obsession with aerobics, kickboxing, and lifting weights. I like using these videos, because I don't have to go to the gym, or run in the cold. I would say 75% of them are not worth the money, because they're either too complicated, or not tough enough. Belly dancing just doesn't cut it.

I have had good luck with Denise Austin's videos. Maybe it's because she just LOVES Idaho Potatoes! They're full of vitamins and minerals!

This IS weird, right? Who owns this many workout videos? What a strange thing to be addicted to.
I'm proud to say, that I haven't bought a workout DVD in over a year. Although, I did see a new one that I want...

UPDATE:
I accidentally bought another one. It's the one I wanted. I really like it; it's fun. It's divided into 4, 10 minute intervals. There is kickboxing, athletics, retro aerobics, and dance. I was able to keep up. Although, I was leaping across the room, and almost kicked over a plant stand.
Here it is:

  2. Wow! :)
I gotta burn some calories, too, Emiline. ASAP, to be more precise. :)

I had the one Cindy Crawford release back in the 90's, but didn't use much.

  3. Somehow my workout videos got lost in the move..perhaps I gave them away. In flipping channels I often see something I want in the way of getting my body moving. Everyone has abs of steel!!!!!!

  4. OH MY!!! I am a gym rat - I don't know why, but I work out a lot better at the gym than at home, especially in the classes. But I have some suggestions if you are looking to add to you collection, because the few dvds I have at home I love!! First, if you are a kickboxing fan, the Billy Blanks Boot Camp will kick your butt. Yeah, the one with the infomercial (I do fall prey to to the infomercials some times!!) Also the MTV power yoga and the MTV pilates are awesome.

  5. Wow, that is a lot. I have about 6, I think, which I'm trying to sell. Do you want them? If I don't go to the gym I don't exercise. Which is sad, because my membership is expensive, but those are the facts.

  6. I have a gym membership, but I get tired of the hamster wheels in the cardio area and my gym doesn't have good classes at times I can take them, so I've been doing more cardio at home these days. I've been amassing quite a few DVDs myself. I love anything dance-oriented. It's really hard though to find something dancy that still works me hard enough.

My two goals for 2008 are to lose 20 pounds and cook at least three things I never cooked before or haven't cooked in a long time. Does that sound totally incompatible?

  7. Pretty hilarious! I have a few, but I tend to do the tredmill in the winter and walk/run in the summer.

Can you believe I heard on the radio the other day from Dr. Dean Adel(spelling?) that you have to run 1 HOUR on the tredmill to burn off the calories from one lousy piece of pie?
It's just not right, it's just not fear.

  8. WHOOOHHH girl, that is alot of workout DVDs!!! Do you have any good abs or yoga DVDs you would recommend?

  9. I've never heard of THE FIRM. What a great name. And, oh my!!! you're making Denise Austin rich. Don't think I'm stupid, but I only learned recently that she was Tracy Austin's sister.

Most of my exercise tapes are just that: VIDEO tapes. Luckily, soon they'll be completely obsolete and I'll have an excuse not to use them.

  10. I love your huge collection, that's hillarious. We have most of the Tai Bo tapes still.

If I didn't do my pilates and yoga, I'd weigh in at 500lbs with the way I like to cook/eat!

We got the boys a trampoline for Christmas, so there's some more cardio!

  11. I love Tae-Bo - well in as much as I like exercise, which isn't a lot! I always thought I had quite a lot of fitness vids but that was about ten, nowhere near as many as you!

  12. Nuria- Jane Fonda rocks.

Patricia- Did you notice the big red arrow, and what it was pointing to?

Valli- I want abs of steel. And buns of steel.

Deborah- You are too late! I have the Billy Blanks Boot Camp, already. It IS hard. Wow, I haven't used that one in a long time. You have to have those special rubber bands.

    Amy- Whatever works for you.
    What kind are they?

Rachel- Yea! Go cardio. I like the dance things, too. I only like to do them when I'm alone, because it's embarassing. You're right-a lot of them don't work you very hard.

Annie- We have a tredmill; I like it. I have to watch TV if I'm going to use it.
That's not fair! If I run 1 hour on a tredmill, I'm eating the WHOLE pie.

Val- I do not. I don't use yoga, or pilates, because they don't work me very hard. It just doesn't work for me. I have to do cardio, to see improvements.

Jenny- A trampoline sounds like fun. I could jump on that for hours. Maybe play some "popcorn".

Polly- Yes, I like Tae-Bo, too. Kind of sick of it now.

  13. I wish I could get into work out videos, but I get bored after the first 2 minutes. The only thing that works is the cardiotheatre they have at my gym. Basically, 100 channels attached to the cross-ramp.

  14. I have one boxing and one kickboxing by some boring ass woman who cannot punch in time to her counting. And a few yogas, and some step, and I think a dance reebock.

  15. You are too funny! Doesn't everybody have 2 zillion exercise DVD's??? I know I have a bunch that promise to variously kick my butt, raise my butt, shape my butt, strengthen my butt, enhance my butt, etc.
One of these days...."How to Beautify Your Butt"....and I'm there!

  16. I have someones tapes and videos but you win me!!!Gloria

  17. Anna- That sounds like fun. Maybe one day I'll go to the gym.

Amy- Hmm, maybe you should hang on to them. I really don't need any more. I don't use hardly any of these. I use just a couple that I like.

Catherine- My butt could use all the help it can get.

    Gloria- I win!

  18. WOW. That's a lot of videos. I agree that Denise Austen is good, although don't you think her tan is a bit much? Or maybe it's just that extreme in some of her videos.

My husband and I did Tae Bo together for about a week.

The worst video I have was one by Paula Abdul. Sometimes the moves aren't with the music. I can't hack when the music isn't with the moves.

But I bet between the two of us I'm the only one who has a Richard Simmons video! Oh yes I do!

  19. You do have a lot! Right now I am trying to build my collection of at-hoem workout programs, so I'm not so stressed abotu trying to get to the gym or go for a run all the time. I know what you mean that many are not tough enough. Right now I am really liking the Billy Boot Camp series, which is tae bo with resistance bands, and I just got my first Cathe Frederich program - KickMax. She's known to be super high intensity!

  20. I feel so bad. The few I have are collecting dust. And it shows.

  21. Sue- What do you know? I did miss your comment. I am a rat.
    Who's Tracy Austin?
Oh, ok. She's a tennis star. Wow. Guess I should have known that, since I played varsity tennis in high school.

The Firm is complicated. Don't buy them.

  22. I have to say I am a Austin fan and almost all of my workout videos are hers...I only have a fraction of the DVD as you do.

  23. Hi, Emily! Have to tell you, you are not alone. A probably own trice as much work out videos, but I'm still overweight, cause I have cookbook addiction too.
