It's March 1st, and do you know what that means? I'm hosting my first blogging event! I've been planning this event for some time. Remember how I kept hinting and hinting about it?
I wanted it to be a food blogging event, revolving around St. Patrick's Day, and alcohol, since I have Irish blood.
So I introduce to you, my....
St. Paddy's Day Pub Crawl Blogging Event!
To participate, cook and post a savory or sweet dish, using beer, wine, or hard liquor/liqueur, (Or all of the above!) between March 1st and Monday, March 17th.
Send me your entry at sugarplumblog(at)yahoo(dot)com with the following information:
1. Name
2. Blog name
3. Blog URL
4. Post title or Name of dish
5. Post URL
6. Picture
I will post all of the entries on Thursday, March 20th, and we'll have a little pub crawl with all of the boozy food.
This isn't just a blogging event, it's a blogging contest!
Myself and a panel of judges will pick a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. I'll make a big fuss over you entry, and give you lots of attention.
The 1st place winner also receives a prize:
A copy of Entertaining with the Sopranos
and...
The Ultimate Book of Cocktails.
(I just bought them from Borders, tonight!)
I will be judging on the following criteria:
Creativity-50%
Use of & type of alcohol-35%
Presentation-15%
This is a cooking & baking contest, not a drink-making contest. I can't wait to see your entries! There are some really talented bloggers out there.
Now get ready....set....go!
SHOW ME YOUR BOOZE!
This is a cocktail that I made, to celebrate my new contest.
1 ounce rum
1 ounce Malibu Banana liqueur
2 ounces pineapple juice
2 teaspoons Meyer lemon juice
Ice
2 kumquats, thinly sliced
Combine rum, Malibu, pineapple juice, lemon juice, and ice, in a cocktail shaker, and shake to combine. Strain liquid into a glass, place a few slices of kumquat into the drink, and garnish the sides as well.

I made a special cake for St. Patrick's Day every year...I will be sure to participate in your event!
The good thing is that you gave us plenty of time to come up with something great. The bad thing is that I can't see any of your pictures. I'll have to use my imagination.
Right on Emiline! This is the kind of event that I love. Maybe you've noticed that I like to use alcoholic beverages for my cooking. Well, I think I have the perfect recipe for this event. :D
Oh babycakes! This is EXACTLY up my alley (a dark one at that!)...we Irish lasses have the advantage! Great idea, can't wait to see everyone's inventions!
awesome! sounds like fun! I'm already thinking of inspiration!
Maybe my CS will let me dip into the good stuff to create something. What a great idea.
Great event name, Emiline. :) Will do my best to think of something with whisky and/or guiness - shouldn't be too hard!
Cool! This will give me a chance to use my new Cooking with Booze cookbook.
oooooh! how fun! :::putting my thinking cap on:::
Woohoo! A blogging event! :-)
I'm starting drinking now and hopefully inspiration will strike before the hangover.
The books are mine!
Muaaarggggggg *evil laugh*
Look at those neatly trimmed fingernails! And why did I not see the fruits of your labor?

Normally, it's not the type of movie I would go for, but it actually looks kind of good.
This is totes brill, Em! I will totally play. I am in particular need of stiff drinks, and I'm not even Irish! Ha!
Hi Emiline, What a great idea! Count me in on this pub crawl.
This event sound like fun.Let me think if I can come up with sth original :-)
I will have to get thinking on this one!
Yay! I'm glad I have a little bit of excitement growing.
Ahh, Catherine. A fellow Irish lass! Top of the morning to ye.
Have you seen me Lucky Charms?
Oh snap, I am all about boozy foods!
This is fabulous and exciting!
=)
To do:
1. Come up with good recipes
2. Get that damned digital camera already!
(When I had FIOS installed in my apartment, Verizon said we'd be getting a $200 dollar Best Buy gift certificate. When it arrives, I know where I'm taking it.)
Ooh! This event sounds fun! I've got several dishes up my sleeve containing wine or beer.
i do have a question about this... is it limited to one submission per blogger?
Jaime- You can enter as much as you want. Just don't go too crazy.
What a cool idea! I've thrown wine into tons of dishes -- this makes me want to try something a little different.
Love your kumquatini!
Hey, lovely!!! Let's all meet in the "Pub" or "Bar" and get drunk together!!!! He, he, love the idea... count on me :D!!!
First I will try your Beautiful drink♥
This is so cool, Emiline!!
I'm not Irish, but I do have some German and Italian blood - I like alcohol, is all I can say. :)
you are contributing to my delinquency.
thanks. :)
Sounds like fun, Emiline! Your drink looks awesome! Yum!
Can I join in? I know just what to make!
What a fun event! I just came across your blog and think its great! This might have to be the first contest I participate in!
I guess I have seen your blog before through 20somethingsbloggers, but I didn't connect the dots I guess. Anyways, I love your blog and put you in my favorites!
It's as if you created a blogging event just for me! ;-)
Now to narrow down the bazillion choices rattling around in my head.
Great idea! Now the pressure is on to come up with something worth entering.
Thanks, that's all I need is more pressure. (Just kid'n - this kind of pressure is fun!!)
Sounds like a great event for St. Patrick's Day! I'll have to plan something for next week. :)
Sounds like a lot of fun! I will have to think on that one but with an Irish husbad I can't pass!
Ok!! I CAN'T let that pass!! I'm totally in!:)
Hahaha FUN! Ahh, I'm always up for something involving liquor.
I do want to ask, though, because I'm curious: not that I'm complaining, but why is it an ITALIAN book for an IRISH event? The foodie in me rejoices and hugs you, but the Irish in me might sucker punch you without spilling my beer. ;)
i am SO IN.
So excited! Now to decide what to make...
Crafty Mom- Of course!
Ley- Um, I guess because the Sopranos like to drink?
Alright, alright. Nice save. lol ;)
I hope I can get my act together for this one!
excellent! i already have a recipe in mind to make next week that fits this perfectly.
I really want to do this, but I've got a horrible feeling I'm going to run out of time... We'll see. Great theme, though!
Ooooohhhh...I'm SO in. Just you wait. I'm gonna throw DOWN! What a fun idea!
Fun event but a bit late for me to join ....first and last time I tasted a Kumquat Martini was in Park City, Utah..it was so fab. Thanks for sharing the recipe!
Just stumbled across this event yesterday. Sounds great. It will give me something to do with my free time tomorrow.
