Grandma's back for a week long visit. Yay....
(She's here for my older sister's bridal shower)
She knocked on my door today, interrupting my Arrested Development viewing.
"I brought you a present," she said.
I ripped open the package to discover this:

"It's an apron from Mexico," she said. "You know, since you cook."
"Oh, gosh.....Thanks Grandma!" I exclaimed.
I put it on...and couldn't button it up across my chest.
"Oh, it's uhhh...not fitting. I guess I can't wear it," I said. (Darn)
Honestly, it's designed for a little kid!
"I thought you were a little-bitty girl!" Grandma cried out.
"Well, Grandma, I guess I'm just a medium sized girl."
Anyway, I have this apron now, and was wondering if anyone wanted it. It's very fashion-forward, feminine, clean cut (or not -depends if you wear clothes under it)...I'm going to start an auction, right here, right now. Do I hear one dollar? One dollar one dollar one dollar one dollar two dollar two dollar two dollar...
This could be a major fashion trend in the culinary world.
You'll soon see the contestants wearing these on Top Chef.
Now I need to go on a diet, because I can't fit into little girl clothing from Mexico.

i'll trade you a used starbucks apron for it. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, that looks like on of my mom's apron. But I think she never wore blue, it was always something yellow or pink.
ReplyDelete1 start my offer with 1 dollar! LOL
But it's not for me, I would never fit in that thing
That is so something my grandma would do. I'm laughing so hard!
ReplyDeletelol em, there's no way that would fit me; not that i'm asking for it! I think it's lovely how your grandma had such good intentions-very sweet of her.
ReplyDeleteI think it's very cute, but I'm a big girl and there's no way little girl aprons from Mexico would fit me. I have an assortment of aprons that have ruffles on them. I gues I'm a girly apron wearer!
ReplyDeleteOh, isn't your grandmother adorable? I think that in their eyes we'll never be adults. :)
ReplyDeleteThis honestly made me laugh out loud! That is so something my grandmother would say. I've recently gotten, "Wow, your belly is getting really big! I only weighed 100 lbs when I was pregnant." Nice, grandma. Just what I wanted to hear. So I'm pretty sure I wouldn't fit into the little girl apron either. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the dialogue!
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty apron. Hide it away and after many years your children will love seeing a present from their great grand-mother.
ReplyDeleteEmiline, I think she is soooo cure, lovely!! for her you are still a little girl!!! xxxGloria
ReplyDeleteThat was so sweet of your grandma.
ReplyDeleteEmiline you have me cracking up here..lol

No, no, no. It's not cute! Stop saying that!
ReplyDeleteThat is one smokin' hot apron!
ReplyDeleteI suggest you send it to Top Chef and see if they go on board with it.
:D
You're too funny. Yeah, it's pretty ugly. Surely they have cuter aprons that that in Mexico, right?
ReplyDeleteMy grandma used to MAKE me ugly things that fit me, and then I had to wear them in her presence. Yick.
You are too funny EM. It is a pity it cannot fit you because it is very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHAHA!! Oh Emiline, this post made me smile :0D
ReplyDeleteWell, I was going to say it's ----, but I won't. =D
ReplyDeleteAwwww .... too cute.
ReplyDeleteI'm up to my eyeballs in aprons, though. Want one with the Crisco logo?
It's soooo cute!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I have just tagged you for a meme! Check out my blog post to find out what the scoop is!
Haha, funny. That's something I could see me own nana (grandmother) doing. Haha, to thats cute. I need to get one. I actually don't have one. Haha.
ReplyDeleteWell, atleast you know that your grandmother had good intentions. Your known grandparents and parents; We're still kids in they're eyes. No matter how old we may be.
I like Annie's suggestion. Let it be the new uniform on Top Chef.
ReplyDeletePatricia is right. Our grandmother's never see us as adults. I remember having dinner at my grandmother's house years ago and she kept telling me that I hadn't eaten enough. I reminded her that she wouldn't eat half as much as I had just eaten. She said, "But I'm not a growing girl."
"Grandma, I'M 25! The only way I'm going to grow is in my belly and hips if you insist I eat more."
Why don't you cart it around until you have kids of your own? :)
ReplyDeleteLOl love this apron its very cute :) No way would it fit me either!!
ReplyDeleteRosie x
ahhhhh. Such a cute Grand Ma. Save it. You'll treasure it one day!
ReplyDeleteCute apron - it's a shame it doesn't fit.
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss this post? Your grandmother is so funny! She thought she was being so sweet. My grandma used to bring thrift store toys for my new babies, she was so excited about her finds. Yikes granny!
ReplyDeleteThat apron is a classic, maybe it's a vintage piece, try selling it on ebay!
Hmmmmm, my 85 year-old neighbor has one just like that - she wears it constantly... (It fits... and I know where I can buy one of my very own - should I choose to)
ReplyDeleteBut it was soooo sweet of your Grandma!
ReplyDeleteThis story reminds me of that scene in "A Christmas Story" where Ralphie has to put on the rabbit outfit that his aunt gave him. HA!
ReplyDeletei think it's kinda cute, but even on the screen i could tell it was tiny! your grandmother sounds so cute.;
Why can't you just wear it open? It's from Granny, for pete's sake!
ReplyDeleteYou are soooooooo funny!!! :D
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean I won the auction? I didn't see any more bids :-p
