New Spring Fashion for the Kitchen

Grandma's back for a week long visit. Yay....
(She's here for my older sister's bridal shower)

She knocked on my door today, interrupting my Arrested Development viewing.

"I brought you a present," she said.
I ripped open the package to discover this:

"It's an apron from Mexico," she said. "You know, since you cook."

"Oh, gosh.....Thanks Grandma!" I exclaimed.
I put it on...and couldn't button it up across my chest.
"Oh, it's uhhh...not fitting. I guess I can't wear it," I said. (Darn)

Honestly, it's designed for a little kid!

"I thought you were a little-bitty girl!" Grandma cried out.

"Well, Grandma, I guess I'm just a medium sized girl."

Anyway, I have this apron now, and was wondering if anyone wanted it. It's very fashion-forward, feminine, clean cut (or not -depends if you wear clothes under it)...I'm going to start an auction, right here, right now. Do I hear one dollar? One dollar one dollar one dollar one dollar two dollar two dollar two dollar...
This could be a major fashion trend in the culinary world.
You'll soon see the contestants wearing these on Top Chef.

Now I need to go on a diet, because I can't fit into little girl clothing from Mexico.

  2. LOL, that looks like on of my mom's apron. But I think she never wore blue, it was always something yellow or pink.

1 start my offer with 1 dollar! LOL
But it's not for me, I would never fit in that thing

  5. I think it's very cute, but I'm a big girl and there's no way little girl aprons from Mexico would fit me. I have an assortment of aprons that have ruffles on them. I gues I'm a girly apron wearer!

  6. Oh, isn't your grandmother adorable? I think that in their eyes we'll never be adults. :)

  7. This honestly made me laugh out loud! That is so something my grandmother would say. I've recently gotten, "Wow, your belly is getting really big! I only weighed 100 lbs when I was pregnant." Nice, grandma. Just what I wanted to hear. So I'm pretty sure I wouldn't fit into the little girl apron either. ;)

  8. That's a pretty apron. Hide it away and after many years your children will love seeing a present from their great grand-mother.

  13. You're too funny. Yeah, it's pretty ugly. Surely they have cuter aprons that that in Mexico, right?

My grandma used to MAKE me ugly things that fit me, and then I had to wear them in her presence. Yick.

  19. Haha, funny. That's something I could see me own nana (grandmother) doing. Haha, to thats cute. I need to get one. I actually don't have one. Haha.

Well, atleast you know that your grandmother had good intentions. Your known grandparents and parents; We're still kids in they're eyes. No matter how old we may be.

  20. I like Annie's suggestion. Let it be the new uniform on Top Chef.

Patricia is right. Our grandmother's never see us as adults. I remember having dinner at my grandmother's house years ago and she kept telling me that I hadn't eaten enough. I reminded her that she wouldn't eat half as much as I had just eaten. She said, "But I'm not a growing girl."

"Grandma, I'M 25! The only way I'm going to grow is in my belly and hips if you insist I eat more."

  21. Why don't you cart it around until you have kids of your own? :)

  25. How did I miss this post? Your grandmother is so funny! She thought she was being so sweet. My grandma used to bring thrift store toys for my new babies, she was so excited about her finds. Yikes granny!

That apron is a classic, maybe it's a vintage piece, try selling it on ebay!
