Amazing Egg Chocolate Chip Cookies

>> Monday, November 10, 2008

Have you heard of the amazing egg chocolate chip cookies? The recipe comes from Anna of Cookie Madness and Rita of Clumbsy Cookie

It calls for hard-boiled egg, rather than raw egg, in the dough. It's sort of an old fashioned technique you don't hear about anymore. I tried researching the topic, but I couldn't find any information or history. It sounds kind of gross, doesn't it?

I had never heard of using hard-boiled egg in a cookie, so I had to try it.

These were very good cookies, and oh-so crumbly. Mine look more rugged than their cookies, and I think it's because I didn't process everything enough.

Give them a try and let me (or them) know what you think!

This is a great way to use up all of those leftover Easter eggs. Also, don't worry; you can't see the egg bits in the cookie.

Mmm, Ghiradelli bittersweet chocolate chips...

Sorry, that's all I have for now.

A hard boil egg in a cookie! Interesting, I'll have to take you word for it...

Wow, I gotta say,the thought of this makes me gag, and yet those cookies look amazing. I am torn. I want to try it, but I feel vomiting from the process.

wow these look so yummy. I love chocolate chip cookies. I once found a recipe for cookies named ovis mollis which had hard boiled egg yolks in them the texture will be more crumbly :) good anyway

A hard boiled egg in the cookies? That sounds so bizarre.

I have been very intrigued by these right from the day I read the post on CC. I know I will try these eventually.

So, I haven't heard of this before, but I did see it here and on Clumbsy Cookie. I doesn't sound appealing! I have to tell you I substituted some butter with pumkin in some chocolate chip cookies and it was actually okay. I don't eat cookies but I tried one and it was really good. I put one stick of unsalted butter and two heaping teaspoons of pumpkin in the batter and they were fabulous! I am getting to become more fearless. Yes, as for you comment, I have a diva on my hands!

Hey I know that cookie! Glad you liked it. Also this wasn't just me and Anna, Katrina helped too (http://kevnkoi.blogspot.com/2008/10/amazing-hard-boiled-egg-chocolate-chip.html).
The hard boiled egg thing usually scares people at first, but if you think about it, when you're eating cookies you're eating cookied eggs as well, lol. These are just a little bit more cooked.
I've used cooked eggs not only on this cookie, but in some other recipes and in a bakery I was we used to even do a pie crust with them, it was really crunchy!
Can't wait to see the last one, they were 3, weren't they?

I have a recipe for scones that uses hard-boiled eggs, and I've always wanted to try it! How do these cookies compare to your other recipes?

Anna was making these like crazy!! They look really good. I used to eat hard boiled eggs all the time before I was vegan. Maybe 4-5 eggs a day haha These would be good to send to Iraq. I bake for the soldiers every month, so I'll give these a shot.

I read about Anna's journey with the hard boiled egg cookie- and I was very intrigued. I wondered about there being bits of egg in the cookie-glad to hear that's not the case. I am going to try these out soon because they look heavenly!

Anna Monday, November 10, 2008

Cool! You tried it. I have another crazy recipe for you, but I can't send it to you until I get home.

Sara Monday, November 10, 2008

Ya know, I've seen this recipe on Anna and Rita's blogs but I thought, "Hard boiled egg?? Gross!" I might just have to try it, since I keep hearing that they are good. :)

NĂºria Monday, November 10, 2008

Yes it sounds funny to use hard boiled egg... but as long as the result is good... ;D

Sharon Monday, November 10, 2008

I remember seeing that recipe and being so intrigued but a little afraid. Your cookies look perfect, so I am officially no longer afraid!! :)

Bob Monday, November 10, 2008

I saw that recipe before, I think, and was... curious. Heh. Those look really good though, I might just give them a shot.

Candy Monday, November 10, 2008

I've been meaning to try this..Are you sure you can't see the hard boiled egg because that would freak my family out?

Emiline Monday, November 10, 2008

Rita, yes, I have one more.

Dana, I like the Ultimate ones better.

Anna, can't wait!

Candy, just make sure the eggs are processed enough. If you didn't tell your family, would they notice?

Maria Monday, November 10, 2008

I am glad you tried these. The recipe is very interesting. I will have to give them a whirl!

Veronica Monday, November 10, 2008

I saw that recipe a few weeks ago on Anna's blog...I'm glad to hear you liked them too-I'll have to give them a try the egg thing is very intriguing.

Sue Monday, November 10, 2008

Sorry, Em, but no, no, NO. There are all kinds of things that you could put in cookies that you could manage to camouflage, but WHY?

The only possible reason for this is for those people who are terrified of salmonella from eating the raw egg in unbaked cookie dough. I love ya madly, but NO!

RecipeGirl Monday, November 10, 2008

I saw this one, but I just don't think I'm up for trying it. It sounds icky to me. Brave you!

Complaint Department Manager Monday, November 10, 2008

Okay, I now believe you are deliberately trying to put me in a diabetic coma

VeggieGirl Monday, November 10, 2008

Yep, I've seen these around the blogging world - they're so puffy!!

Bunny Monday, November 10, 2008

CookiePie Monday, November 10, 2008

MMMMM - another yummy-looking chocolate chip cookie! Both look so good... which to try first...

Annie Monday, November 10, 2008

This looks like an amazing cookie. I am totally surprised at the secret ingredient. Never, ever heard of putting hard boiled eggs in cookies.
Just when you thought you heard of everything, you find out something totally cool. I guess it is a great way to use up hard boiled eggs!

Zen Chef Monday, November 10, 2008

Interesting! Never tried that technique, something else to put on my To Do list. They surely look great!

glamah16 Monday, November 10, 2008

Now thats unuasual but I would give it a try.

Grace Tuesday, November 11, 2008

i'd never hard-boil an egg just for this purpose, but if i had some lying around under my bed or whatnot, i'd definitely give this a shot. they're pretty. :)

Sarah Tuesday, November 11, 2008

Interesting. I've never heard of that technique!
