The Lazy Baker Cookies

I have two more New York bakery reviews I need to post about, which happen to be my two favorites. I wanted to post all four bakery reviews in a row, but it didn't work out like that. I'll continue on with my New York posts later this week. You see, I needed to post about these cookies today, then tomorrow I have something I have to post for a contest I'm entering, then Wednesday is my blogiversary and I have a special post for that day. This is a busy blogging week. My, my...

The gang over at The Lazy Baker contacted me before I went to New York and asked if I wanted to sample one of their cookie mixes. Well, I'll be honest - I really enjoy free food, especially cookies, so I didn't hesitate to say yes. They shipped me the mix pretty fast, so I've had it a while and needed to get blogging about it.

The Lazy Baker cookie mix comes in a cute tin. Inside contains a package of pre-measured dry ingredients, and all you have to do is mix it up with softened butter, an egg, and a little vanilla to make your cookie dough. Bake the dough up and voila! You have homemade cookies without all of the work. Not that I mind that type of work, but I know some people do.

Some people... Some people...

Like who?

Let me think of someone who would never bake homemade cookies from scratch.

Meet the candidate:

-Name: Hannah (Sister of Sugar Plum)
-Age: 18
-Occupation: Cashier/Student
-Hobbies: Watching Weeds, Dexter, and True Blood on the computer, playing video games, taking naps after school.
-Favorite foods: Ramen noodles, frozen chimichangas, flamin' hot cheetos, pizza rolls.

Let's put this cookie mix to the test. If my sister can turn this mix into a batch of delicious cookies, then anyone can.

Here she is hard at work. Isn't she cute?! I adore her. I wish you guys could get to know Hannah. She's so smart, funny and talented. I am very, very proud of her. I just want to reach into this picture and give her a hug. She is the best sister anyone could ask for.

Look at that! She did it! Freshly baked double chocolate chip cookies in no time at all. These were good cookies - nice dark chocolate flavor with a good, crisp texture.

I appreciate that the Lazy Baker cookies use all natural ingredients, unlike most other cookie mixes. They have different flavors besides double chocolate chip that you can buy online. You can also buy the mixes in many locations out west. It's not too early for some holiday shopping!

Even though I prefer home-baked treats (and the process itself), it's nice to know there are good "quick" options out there! Thanks for the review :)

I think this is also for me. Someone who doesn't know how to bake....

Your sister is just as gorgeous as you are!!! Well, of course, she is!

You forgot the number one reason why someone like Hannah would never bake cookies from scratch - SHE LIVES IN THE SAME HOUSE AS YOU! Sorry for yelling, but that would be like Picasso's brother (did he have one?) putting brush to canvas or Julia's sister serving her roast chicken with some puff pastry on the side. It wouldn't happen.

I'd be happy to forgo a little baking of my own, if I knew that you would be providing the goods...

The cookies do look good- I would never use a premix for cookies but I get how some people would! And the all natural ingredients is a definite plus! Cute idea to include your sister!!!

Fun post. Cute sis indeed.
I hope she thaws out the chimichangas first and I'm glad knowing you said one of her pasttimes is watching Weeds (the TV show), because when I first read that I thought you meant watching weeds grow or something! ;)

Your sister looks like a doll--she's my age too :-)

I've seen the Lazy Baker cookies floating around blogland lately, and although I prob wouldn't use a mix, I think it would make a great gift for relatives(mom)who doesn't have time to do it from scratch!

Thanks everyone!

Cathy, Hannah is a beauty!

Haha, Sue, you're right.

Yay for Hannah! I think these are a great idea for people who don't have the time or the interest to make the cookies from scratch - they gotta taste better than some of the awful things you can buy.

I may have to get this mix for my sister Sue, who considers herself hopeless in the kitchen.

my sister is 18 too, she sounds a lot like your sister (especially the naps after school part)- she is also a fan of baking mixes! The cookies look really great- if you didn't tell us they came from a mix I'd have never known!

Great way to test the Lazy Baker, it wouldn't have worked with you.
