I know I'm way behind on my blog reading, but I'll catch up soon. It's been a busy week so far. I just returned home tonight from my company's Christmas party. It's unlike any company Christmas party you've been to before, I guarantee it. I could definitely tell you stories and stories of past Christmas parties. When you mix a bunch of servers, line cooks and alcohol in the same room, all hell breaks loose.
I'm happy to be home now, blogging in bed. :) I made these Apple Cinnamon-Oatmeal Butterscotch cookies a few days ago, and they are SO good! These cookies are very addicting, so beware. They have cinnamon, oats, apple sauce, toasted pecans, butterscotch chips and dried apples in them.
They would be perfect for a holiday cookie exchange! They're one of my top ten picks... let's take a look at some of my favorite cookies from the past that would be great for an exchange also.
#9 - Oreo Cream Cheese-Swirled Brownies I've gotten some great reviews on these. Who doesn't love Oreos? Oh gosh, they are so delicious.

#8 - Butter Spritz Cookies These are one of my favorites for Christmas. I make them year after year.

#7 - Crumb Topped Blueberry-Lemon Cheesecake Bars I won a prize for creating this recipe a few months ago. They're amazing! Maybe not very seasonal, but who the heck cares? People will love these.

#6 - Chai Snickerdoodles I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on these cookies as well.

#5 - Cinnamon Hazelnut Brownies Cinnamon and hazelnut make me think of Christmas, so these brownies are perfect!

#4 - Monster Cookies Monster cookies are a crowd pleaser. I used this recipe for my cookie exchange last year and they went over well.

#3 - Nutella Hazelnut Cookies Once again, lots of rave reviews on this cookie. I'm surprised at how many people have made these!

#2 - Cannoli Cookies These are Eric's favorite cookie EVER. And he has excellent taste.

#1 - Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies This recipe has been featured on Saveur for a week or so now. What an honor! Chocolate chip cookies are always a winner, and people will go crazy over these.

I hope I have given you some ideas for your next cookie exchange or holiday gathering. You can't go wrong with any of these. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
Top Chef finale tonight! YESSSSS!

Printable Recipe
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 3/4 cups old fashioned oats
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup apple sauce
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
3/4 cup finely chopped pecans, toasted
3/4 cup butterscotch chips
3/4 cup finely chopped dried apples

In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon; whisk in oats until combined. In a large bowl, using a mixer on medium speed, beat together butter, brown sugar and applesauce until creamy, about 1 minute; beat in vanilla and egg until combined. Reduce mixer speed to low and beat in oat mixture until combined. Stir in pecans, butterscotch chips and dried apples until combined.
Drop heaping teaspoons of dough onto cookie sheets, about an inch apart. Bake for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 1 minute before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

WOW! I am loving nearly every cookie on your blog! (The oreo one looks to die for.)
Hang in there with the busyness; HOLY YUM treat list!!! Wowza; and hooray for 'Top Chef' tonight!!
Emily what terrific recipes, thank you. Spritz were a huge Christmas tradition in our family. Everyone is gone now that use to make them so your post has inspired me to get with it and keep up the tradition. Hope you are enjoying the festive season?
All the best to you x
*drool*..........WOW! I mean WOW!
Emily seriously these all look so amazing! I want to make all of them but am afraid I would hole myself up in my apartment for the weekend and eat everything...I clearly need to find more people to bake for ;)
applesauce is an ingredient i haven't seen in cookies, but i like it. oatmeal scotchies rank among my absolute favorites and since these are similar to those but with cinnamon apples, clearly i'm smitten.
Still a huge fan of CC Cookies... Can't help it, they are always such a crowd pleaser!
cookie cookie cookie!!!! all of these sound yum!
Hi Emily. Thanks so much for the wonderful cookie recipes. I've got my eye on the Oreo Brownies and Cannoli cookies. It will be nice to have two new additions to my cookie tray at Christmas.
These cookies sound amazing. Apples and butterscotch chips are two of my most favorite things in the world. Yum! I'm going to add these to my Christmas cookie list.
I want them ALL!

i can't WAIT for top chef tonight!!!
Cookies! I want to eat every one of them.
Wow. That's a lot of stuff in that cookie.
I can vouch for the oreo cream cheese brownies. I baked them for my company picnic bake off. I got rave reviews, but sadly, I didn't win. I should have!
My company cancelled its cookie exchange because I was the only one who signed up for it. We also had a seriously lame holiday party this year that consisted of a two-hour cocktail party with no SOs invited. Big change from previous years. Times are tough. I want to go to your party.
We had no cookie exchange and no big holiday party, but there is some kind of in-office gathering happening next week and I was asked to bake some cookes for it. I plan to bake the cookies I would have baked for the exchange - your nutella and hazelnut cookies (although the cinnamon hazelnut brownies are also tempting).
How cozy to be blogging in bed! Your parade of cookies is stunning! In particular I'm drooling over the blueberry cheesecake bars and the nutella cookies. Yum!
I will make one of the 10 this week I promise! You are so brilliant!
So many choices Emily..I am on a sugar high just thinking about it.
I would love to hear your stories from past Christmas parties. I used to wait tables. Servers + free alcohol = all hell breaking loose. ;)
All you cookies/brownies look amazing. I would love to try them all, but what I would really love is your camera. I could stare all day at your beautiful pictures.
Oh these cookies looook so freaking delicious! I'm so giving this recipe a try...yum!
I made those oreo cream cheese brownies and they were GOOOOOD!
~ingrid
oh my gosh..all these cookies! YUM
Holy cookie heaven! I am going to have to make the Italian Wedding cookies. Very clever. Them Mexican/pecan ones are SO good it's dangerous and your twist with almonds sounds great!
So I'm a few posts behind, but that pb/chocolate banana bread looks de-lish!
We recently had a huge rodent problem at our house. Caught 5 mice inside the house and four HUGE rats in the attic (we have an exterminator--I don't take any part in the process.) Seems we have finally got them all. Cute little critter under your couch--but they DO NOT belong in the house, for sure!
Hi
Where can you get dried apples.
Thanks everyone!
Jackie, Wal-Mart. Price Cutter? If you have that...
Totally awesome cookie list! It will be hard to choose.
Such a stunning line up of cookies you have--I may have to try a few! :-)
Oh wow! Im so impressed! Thank you so much for the cookie recipe. I was totally just about to ask for it!=) as it sounds absolutely wonderful. Fabulous pictures!!
By the way, I just gave you an award :)

I am so making the cannoli cookies! oh yeah baby!
Um, me thinks we should do a cookie exchange and you make all those cookies to give me. And, in exchange, um, I'll find something, anything, because I think I need all those cookies. For dinner. Now. Please?
Those cannoli cookies are really interesting. They all look fabulous.
So many gorgeous cookies, I can't pick a favorite!!!
Hi friend this is vennilla here.. ur doing a really good job.. can we exchange links..
I'm going to try the Nutella hazelnut cookies and cannoli cookies....they both look great. So do the blueberry lemon cheesecake bars. Emily, you are amazing!!!!
WOWZA.

Oh, they ALL look so delicious... that said, I seem to be on a butterscotch kick, so those apple cookies are definitely at the top of my list.
You are a woman after my own heart, always playing with recipes, brown some of the butter leave some in chunks, yeah! Yeast in cookies, YEAH! WOW. NOw I am going to take some of your delicious looking recipes and make them wheat free.
I'm soooo behind on blog reading too!! And posting- I'm so ready for Christmas break! One more week and then I'll be a baking fool- although I had my list all picked out and now I'm thinking about adding your spritz cookies to it so I'm going to have to ax something. Love the cream cheese brownies- I actually made those a few weeks ago but they look even more amazing with dark chocolate!
Got some serious drool going on now. Oreo brownies...yum! My hubby's grandmother made monster cookies that he still raves about. Maybe I can surprise him with these.
I wish I was in a cookie exchange with you - actually I just wish you'd bake me cookies :) What a great list! I need to get a cookie press so I can make spritz cookies, they're one of my favorites too!
I made the applesauce butterscotch cookies last night. They turned out great! They were a fun cookie to make!! Thanks for the great recipe!
I am going to try your blueberry-lemon cheesecake bars next!!
