I know I have to tell you about France, but I had a fun weekend and have to share it with you. I get distracted easily.
Well, first I went fishing on Friday.

But then, on Saturday, Eric and I went to a St. Louis Cardinals game! Remember when I bought tickets for his birthday? Well, Saturday was the big day.
Eric's dad let us take the Buick.

The Buick Roadmaster

It was a pretty sweet ride. It drove like a dream and it had plenty of leg room. We even found a 1980's Eagles Live cassette tape and rocked out to Life in the Fast Lane.

ROAD TRIP 2010! St. Louis here we come!

We needed some fuel halfway there and stopped at Jack in the Box. I've never been to Jack in the Box before. Their menu is all over the place... burgers, chicken strips, pitas, stuffed jalapenos, tacos...

My vanilla iced coffee was more money than Eric's two tacos. I guess Jack in the Box has really good tacos. That's what Eric says. I'll leave that up to you to decide.

We arrived at Busch stadium a little early and it was blazing hot outside. Ninety four degrees to be exact.

We wandered to this restaurant called Caleco's to get out of the heat, and to get some food before the game.

Hi Eric. Nice shirt.

We ordered a jalapeno and pepperoni pizza. This was only a medium! It smelled amazing. I love pizza.

It tasted incredible. I now love St. Louis style pizza. I really liked the super thin crust and the buttery cheese they used. They used a cheese called provel. The provel is a white processed cheese made from cheddar, swiss, and provolone, with a low melting point. Mmm pickled jalapenos. I ate way too many jalapenos for my own good - I had heartburn later.

Game time.

Go Cardinals!

Fact: I have never been in the arch before.

We found our cushy seats in the Redbird Club section. The seats were located by an indoor lounge area with a bar.

Hey! The Eagles are coming to play at Busch stadium soon. Hey! Are those crabs on Eric's shorts?

I lounged in the lounge area but didn't buy a beer. A bottle of beer was $8. Yeah.

Then the game started. It was a great game and I'm happy to report that the Cardinals won against the Oakland Athletics! Yay! It was only a two hour game and it kept my attention well. The guy selling concessions and shouting PEEENITS kept me alert. Every time he shouted that I jerked my head in his direction and thought to myself, "What did he just say?!" Turns out he was saying, "PEANUTS!" Not... you know...

This is Eric's favorite player: Yadier Molina, the catcher for the Cardinals.

This bat shattered when one of the Cardinals hit the ball. I think that's nuts.

The Wave!! That was a lot of fun.

This was a fun little road trip and I'm glad Eric and I went. The only thing that wasn't fun about the trip was the four hour drive back home to Springfield. There's only so much Eagles Live you can listen to in one day.

Glad you had a fantastic time at the game. I was in the States yesterday and was shocked at how inexpensive everything is including beer. We could easily pay $8 for a beer on a regular basis, wine is $6-$9 a glass. My beloved Bellini is $15 for a pitcher:D PS that is my way to fish:D

Fun! And I'm glad they won.
ReplyDeleteI think the last time I was at a Jack in the Box I was 7 years old and on a family road trip. Not too many of them around here. I also think it's been 20 years since my last baseball game. I was a camp counselor and we took the kids to a couple of Yankee games.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had way too much fun. You have to stop or you'll make the rest of us too envious!
Looks like such a fun weekend! Now I've got the seventh inning stretch song stuck in my head!

I will gladly admit that I LOVE the tacos at Jack in the Box. I wish they had one where I live...
ReplyDeleteThat was so cute, thanks for the roadtrip, I needed a getaway!
ReplyDeleteI think I could listen to the Eagles all day, in fact, I think I have at some point in my life...
Love your colorful photos.

Looks like you guys had fun! The look on your face when you are staring at the pizza is priceless - it must have been some good pizza. I desperately want to be out fishing on that beautiful sunny lake - it is freezing and grey and miserable most of the time here at the moment, and if I could get Scotty to beam me up there, I would.
ReplyDeleteI really love your blog! Hi from Canada!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you and Eric always have a fun time! Thanks for sharing :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! I love baseball games. Glad you two had a fun time+a road trip.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fun time. Baseball games are fun, as long as they don't last too long.
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks very lovely in all the pictures.
Super cool! Great pics and seats!
ReplyDeleteHey you came to my side of the state :) I think we were actually at that same game--unless bats frequently break! Glad you guys had fun!
