Indulgence

Yogurt3

I t's Friday! You've survived another long, hard week. It's time to start to relax, enjoy your weekend, and indulge a little.

You know... sleep in, eat a fancy meal, or drink that extra glass of wine. :)

I'm planning on laying out by the pool and reading, maybe watching a movie, and possibly doing some extravagant hat shopping.

Do you like??

This weekend, I'm also going to be indulging in this new Caramel Oikos Greek Yogurt I purchased.
Yogurt1

I love Greek yogurt, and Oikos is my absolute favorite. Oikos is a little $$$ but it's worth every penny. It's organic and the quality is better than other Greek yogurts. I've been wanting to try their new caramel and chocolate flavors for a while now.

I have been looking for the flavors all over Springfield and haven't been able to find them. Until yesterday. I found the caramel flavor and it made my day!

I sampled it today and it's SO good. It's thick, creamy, and tangy, and the caramel tastes like dulce de leche. It's not that fake corn syrup caramel - it's real caramel!
Real caramel, I tell you!

I'm still looking for the chocolate flavor, and when I find it I'll tell you if it's good.
But it will be good. I have a good feeling about the chocolate.

  4. Yum! I love me some Greek yogurt and have been meaning to try the chocolate and caramel Oikos. I've been meaning to come up with a good yogurt-waffle recipe. If I used caramel or chocolate yogurt, that would count as dessert, right?

    ReplyDelete
  5. I could make Caramel Blondies or some Chocolate Blondies with the caramel or Chocolate Oikos, respectively. I would add other flavors/fun "add-ins" to that dessert baked good, of course.

  6. I just tried Greek yogurt for the first time a few days ago. I'm officially in love. Had no idea there was so much difference in texture.

I would probably make a parfait.

  7. I just wanted to let you know... I live in Springfield too, and I have found the chocolate flavor at Target. It's the only place I have seen it. It's yummy!

  8. I love it with just a bit of chocolate almond butter in it. it's like frosting and it is such a good dessert!

    ReplyDelete
  9. This is a double loaded task - isn't that dessert in and of itself??? ;-) I would probably do something along the lines of a parfait OR as a filling for angel food cupcakes. I'd most likely use the caramel by the way...

  11. I still haven't found the chocolate and caramel flavors over here! At least not in College Station. I would love to use the caramel oikos in a caramel coconut cupcake. I bet that could be awesome. But first, I would just eat it on its own!

  18. This sounds delicious and even though I am vegan I live with a non-vegan that would love this. I would make a mini chocolate pound cake using the Oikos. That grab bag sounds exciting!

  19. i LOVE your necklace in your fancy hat picture. Please tell me where it's from.

I wouldn't cook with the caramel oikos, but I would make a rich spicy gingerbread and use it as a topping. Does that count as a recipe?

  23. I've been reading this blog for a long time. Even though I don't have a blog, I bake a ton; I actually think you're 'Best Chocolate Chip cookies' (with the toasted walnuts) are better than the NY Times. But I digress, were I to win I would make my forthcoming birthday cake using the yogurt as a substitution for part of the butter in the cake and buttercream of the Opera Cake listed on the Shared Sugar Blog. PLEASE note: Shared Sugar is NOT my blog; I just want that cake to make that cake on my birthday (July 30th). It looks entirely tasty, and I've only had Fage not Oikos, so it would be grand to try it. Email: L-schlesinger@Northwestern.edu

  25. My family and I usually put Greek yogurt in our brownie batter instead of oil and eggs. For this recipe, you take it a step further and use both Caramel AND Chocolate Oikos!

    Caramel Brownie Trifle

    1 box Brownie Mix
    1/2 cup Chocolate Oikos yogurt

1 oz. pack Vanilla pudding mix
    1 1/2 cups cold milk
    12 oz. Cool Whip
    6 oz. Cream Cheese
    8 oz. Caramel Oikos yogurt
    1/2 cup sour cream
    2 tsp Vanilla extract

1 jar Caramel ice cream topping
    1/2 package of toffee bits

Take a boxed brownie mix and add Chocolate Oikos yogurt instead of oil and eggs.
Bake according to packaged directions. Let cool and cut into chunks.

Mix 1 oz package Vanilla pudding mix with 1 1/2 cups milk.

Mix 6 oz cream cheese with 8 oz Caramel Oikos and 1/2 cup sour cream and 2 tsp vanilla.

Fold in pudding mixture and 1 cup Cool Whip into cream cheese/yogurt mixture.

Layer brownie, pudding mixture, and remaining Cool Whip, then top with drizzle of Caramel sauce and toffee bits. Repeat this process until you have a beautiful and delicious dessert!

  26. I use a brownie mix from Trader Joe's that is just the mix and 2/3 c. vanilla yogurt. I could so see using this yogurt instead.

  29. I have a recipe somewhere for banana muffins that calls for yogurt. I think the caramel yogurt would make them even tastier! The chocolate might be good if I turned them into banana chocolate chip muffins.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Wow, an awesome giveaway! I would combine the chocolate version with strawberries to make a great dessert!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'd love to make this into yogurt pops for the kids (and me)!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I would totally mix the caramel oikos with brown sugar and glop it down atop some fresh berries. Then I'd pop it under the broiler for a few and wallah! I'd first eat it with a spoon, and then stop fooling myself and use sugar cookies to scoop it up! yum! Jcickay@gmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  35. You could substitute the chocolate yogurt for sour cream in chocolate cake and have an extra chocolaty, just as moist cake.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'd love to make a chilled chocolate and caramel yogurt pie in a graham cracker crumb pie crust. It would be a cool treat for these hot summer days!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh, yum, that caramel Oikos looks awesome! I've been buying the vanilla honey, but will look for the caramel. My favorite yogurt treat is to put the yogurt in a Fiestaware bowl (because I like the colors), top it with a big handful of walnuts, a scoop of granola, a bunch of fresh blueberries and then sometimes I sprinkle it with cinnamon and drizzle with honey. It's my favorite thing!

  38. I would make a Raspberry Brown Sugar gratin a la Smitten Kitchen.

  40. i would freeze the chocolate or caramel oikos, then blend it with a frozen banana. top with almond butter and melted chocolate!

  41. I think it would be great as a filling in a tart shell and topped with fresh sliced fruits: the chocolate with strawberries, and the caramel with peaches perhaps. Yum!

Don't you wish we wore fancy hats these days?

    ReplyDelete
  42. I would swirl the caramel/chocolate into the yogurt and freeze them into frozen yogurt popsicles!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I use yogurt in baked goods in place of oil and/or eggs, but my main use for yogurt is with cereal. I'm not much of milk girl, so when I put a bowl of cereal in front of myself, I spoon in 1/3 to 1/2 cup of yogurt. Occasionally, I'll add 1 or 2 TBSP of choc sauce cause I want it to be choc. That's what I'd likely use this for.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think I would try some sort of chocolate cheesecake. The blueberry is great - can't wait to try the caramel yogurt.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I would love to try a frozen yogurt with the new Oikos flavors. I perfect summer evening treat!

  46. Mmmm..greek yogurt is awesome, I don't get how they get it so thick and creamy and it's still low fat. I terms of making a dessert with it, I would maybe sammich it between chocolate chip cookies and freeze it. I don't how that would work out but it may be good!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'd top or layer my pancakes with those yummy yogurts! Perhaps also as "frostings" for chocolate cupcakes, or simply just dipping sauce for strawberries! YUM.

    ReplyDelete
  48. caramel oikos!?!?! my life simply won't be complete until i find and try it! i can see myself adding it to muffins or cakes occasionally, but more often than not, i'd just sprinkle some granola in there and spoon it in. :)

  56. I would make a fudge brownie recipe that called for yogurt, but use the caramel yogurt instead and add pecans to the batter - making a low fat and fudgey oikos turtle brownie!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I would make a chocolate and caramel oikos greek yogurt pound cake in place of the sour cream. It would have swirls of chocolate and caramel with a moist crumb because of the thick yogurt. You could even throw in some chocolate chips or chocolate caramel chips if you are really feeling adventurous and maybe a light chocolate glaze or raw sugar topping. MMM I may have to try this now.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I would definitely use the yogurt to try out a variation on the raspberry brown sugar gratin mentioned on smittenkitchen... instead of sour cream, you could use the greek yogurt! I can't decide, though, if I'd keep the brown sugar topping, or would switch it in favor of something else. If I had the chocolate Oikos, I'd probably try to top it with a mix of brown sugar and cinnamon!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'd make Cupcake Project's greek yogurt frosting ofr cupcakes - but it would be chocolate or caramel depending on the yogurt. I could also include it in the cupcake itself by replacing some of the butter / eggs with the yogurt. I've made greek yogurt cupcakes before and they are very delicate, but tasty for the two days.
