Molten Chocolate Nutella Cakes

Ingredients:
50 grams semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 large egg, room temperature
1/4 cup warm milk
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup Nutella
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons cake flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Heat oven to 375 degrees F.  Butter and flour 4 ramekins.

Melt chocolate and butter in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally.

In a medium mixing bowl whisk together egg, milk, sugar, Nutella and vanilla until well combined.  Sift in the flour, baking powder and salt; whisk until just combined.  Divide batter into ramekins.  Pour chocolate-butter mixture equally into the center of each ramekin.

Bake 12-15 minutes, until risen, barely set, and chocolate is about to volcano out of the center.  Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Makes 4 servings

  4. Oh man. These look amazing! I don't think I even tried Nutella until I started blogging a few years ago, and I love it now. The funny thing is...I don't think I actually have any Nutella recipes on my site because I always eat the stuff with a spoon before I can bake with it!

  8. I can't believe I missed World Nutella Day! I will have to commit Nutella Suicide. That's my preferred way to die - with a spoon and as many jars of Nutella (and this cake) that it takes to kill me.

My first time with Nutella was when I was somewhere between the ages of 8 and 10 and my favorite candy store started selling little snack packs of Nutella with mini breadsticks. It sounded sophisticated and it was chocolate so I decided to try it. I was hooked for life.

  9. These look phenomenal!!!

The first time I ever had Nutella was in college. My roommates made these things called "treats" which were tortillas with nutella and peanut butter smeared on each half and then you sprinkled chocolate chips and mini marshmallows in them and put them in a George Foreman and grilled em so they were all melty and perfect.

  10. Molten cakes are sooooo good! Did you read that they've even made it onto the Arby's menu?! I have a feeling that yours are a step (or a millions steps) above theirs.

  11. Sometimes I think I keep Nutella in business...my 7th grader has eaten a Nutella sandwich pretty much every day since Kindergarten. Once he decided to change things up but the next day he went right back to Nutella! We have the shirt, too, and the mugs, and the spreaders. It is an essential staple in my house :)

  13. Those look so delicious, especially with the melting vanilla ice cream.

I first tried Nutella my freshman year of college. One of my roommates introduced it to us. We used to put in on toast from our dorm room toaster oven. :)

  14. The first time I had nutella, I was at my friend's house and I got addicted. As much as she was my best friend, I swear I started going there more often just for the white bread toast and nutella. We've been in love ever since.
