Ingredients:
Chocolate Cake Layer
1 cup all-purpose flour
6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 cup buttermilk
Cookie Dough Layer
1 cup all-purpose flour (*Bake flour for 10 minutes at 350 degrees F. and cool completely)
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Chocolate Ganache
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup heavy cream, half-n-half, or whole milk
Cookie Dough Oreos
Instructions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9-inch round cake pan with nonstick cooking spray.
In a medium bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. In a large mixing bowl, using a mixer on medium speed, beat together butter, sugar and vanilla until creamy. Beat in egg until well combined. Sift in dry ingredients. Mix together, on low speed, alternating with buttermilk, until just combined. Spread into cake pan and bake for 20 minutes, or until well risen, set, and a toothpick inserted into cake comes out with moist crumbs attached. Cool 10 minutes before removing cake from pan. When completely cool, slice in half, crosswise, to make two cakes.
To make the cookie dough layer, in a large mixing bowl, using a mixer on medium speed, beat together flour, butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, milk vanilla and salt until well combined and creamy. Stir in chocolate chips until combined. Spread cookie dough layer on a cake round; top with additional cake round.
To make the chocolate ganache, in a small saucepan, on medium low heat, stir together chocolate chips and cream until melted and smooth; pour over cake and spread evenly. Decorate with Oreos.

I like the idea of a cake filled with cookie dough. I bet the birthday cake oreos would taste great, too.
ReplyDeleteIt is a very, very good idea. :)
DeleteWHAAAT?! I missed them!???? ughhhhh
ReplyDeleteoh well. I've heard mixed reviews. At least this cake exists. And IT. LOOKS. INSAAAANE! In such a yummmmmmmmmmy way!
Yup, I think they have some new flavors now. The lemon were good!
DeleteI don't even need the Oreos, I just want all these layers!
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteThis looks divine! I made a cake using these Oreos not too long ago, but I must say that yours looks so much better! Great recipe!
ReplyDeleteWell, thank you so much, Jenn!
Deletewell hello gorgeous! that's all i have to say about this cake :)
ReplyDeleteAww thanks, Natalie!
DeleteI agree that I wasn't a huge fan of the cookie dough Oreos. I loved them in my cookie dough Oreo cake that I made though, but you're right you can use any Oreo so long as it's not some crazy flavor. I did really enjoy the mashmallow crispy filling ones though!
ReplyDeleteThose were better! I mixed them with cake batter ice cream.
DeleteWhere is everyone finding all of these Oreos?! I swear, the stores by me are so boring, I never see any of the "exotic" limited edition ones. (Although it sounds like I wasn't missing much with these...) At any rate, looks like you found an awesome way to turn a so-so product into a great dessert--this cake looks fantastic!
