Florianne, it's evaporated milk. Not sweetened. It's very similar to pumpkin pie. I think I prefer it over pumpkin, actually. :)

This Thanksgiving (2009) I convinced my mom to let me bake something other than the traditional pecan and Libby's pumpkin pie. As of Thursday, my parents are sweet potato pie converts. Thanks! (Oh...I loved it too.) :)

Jackie, I would leave the mallows off, and maybe serve it with whipped cream. I used light brown sugar. I think dark would be fine. I just used a butter knife to slice it. I'm simple like that.

I take time off from work to bake for Thanksgiving too. I think baking is the most important part.
