Oreo Cream Cheese-Swirled Brownies
Ingredients:
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar
8 ounces (1 package) cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened dark cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt (scant)
2 large eggs
1 1/3 cups coarsely chopped Oreo cookies
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 8x8-inch square baking dish with foil; coat foil with cooking spray.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan, over medium heat. Whisk in sugar and bring to a boil, whisking frequently; boil 1 minute. Set aside to cool for 5 minutes.
In a small mixing bowl, using a mixer on medium speed, beat together cream cheese, confectioners' sugar and vanilla extract, until well combined, about 1 minute.
In a medium sized mixing bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder and salt; whisk until combined.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, until combined. Whisk in melted butter-sugar mixture until well combined. Stir in flour mixture until just combined, followed by Oreo cookies.
Spread half of brownie batter into baking dish, followed by cream cheese layer; dot the top with remaining brownie batter, and spread evenly, as best as you can. Run a knife through batter to make "swirls".
Bake at 350 degrees F, for 23-25 minutes, or until...I don't know. Brownies are difficult to judge. They'll be done. Don't worry. Just take them out at 25 minutes.
Cool on a wire rack to room temperature before slicing. Lift foil out of baking dish, and slice into 9 bars. For easier slicing, try freezing the brownies for 30-60 minutes.

Ooh!! Emiline I can see what you say! I cant resist this!!! Absolutely yummy!!!! xxGloria
ReplyDeleteOh baby! I'm all for the unhealthful stuff. Give me some now!
ReplyDeleteThese look so yummy, and I JUST bought a package of Oreos today at the store, hoping to make something with them! I too think there is no such thing as "too rich". Pff.
ReplyDeleteWow! I've been diagnosed with rich desserts immunity as well! It's a bad, bad condition. Treatmeant is eating those brownies, so please pass a couple. Brownie, Cheesecake and oreos are 3 of the best things ever invented, so I know these are great!
ReplyDeleteEm, if brownies could kill on looks and taste, you have America's Most Wanted. Seriously, they have this oozy gooey chocolate sweetness about them. I'm not even a chocolate head, but those are amazing.
ReplyDeleteI saw you only cut them in 9's :). Hey if you're gonna be bad, go all the way right?
OMG these sounds sooo good.....I would have to eat a whole one too!
ReplyDeleteToo cruel! I'm nursing a sore throat and trying to avoid sweets but just looking at these make me want to tip the sugar bowl back and down the contents. Wish I had something this good to devour. I would stop after one, I promise. (one pan, that is)
ReplyDeleteOh YUM! I love Oreo and these brownies look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThey look like heaven in square form!
ReplyDeleteI am also immune to rich things. I can't say it's a bad thing! ;)
I'm LOVING the decadence of that brownie - YUM!
ReplyDeleteWow...these would be dangerous around me! :)
ReplyDelete:P That whole richness thing happens to me too! I think we get desensitized from all the baking, but I think all that taste testing makes us better bakers in the long run :). These do look rich, but perfect, yummy...and I love the way they look!
ReplyDeleteThey look positively sinful!!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! Those look so delicious and gooey! I want the whole pan please!
ReplyDeleteThese brownies are blowing my mind- I gained, like, five pounds just looking at them. Yuuuuuummmmm!
ReplyDeleteI think i just gained a pound just looking at the picture but damn... they look good!
ReplyDeleteTo be immune to rich desserts is a good thing, right?.. right?
oh god. OH GOD.
ReplyDeleteThese are evil. I can just tell.
Why did they have to invent oreos? It's unfair how good they are.
You know I'm all over these with as many oreos I bake with! They look perfect!
ReplyDeleteThanks all.
ReplyDeleteGloria, thanks!
Rachel, you would like these.
Cara, Oreos are the only packaged cookie I like, I think.
Clumbsy Cookie, think of the advantages of this immunity: we can eat as much sweet stuff as we like, without getting sick.
Adam, I was hoping someone would point that out. Ha ha. 9 seemed perfect to me!
Debbie, thanks!
Aimee, I could eat a whole pan, too!
Baking Blonde, you would love these, you little nut.
Cherie, our immunity will help us in life.
VG, thanks!
Sara, sooo dangerous.
Sophie, yes, they're very dark and handsome.
Jan, thanks!
Ginny, thanks!
Pumpkin, 5 lbs, wow!
Zen, 1 lb, wow!
Brittany, they are really good!
oh me. all i can say to you is bravo.
ReplyDeletei'm always amazed at my fortitude for rich desserts. my response when my fellow dessert-eaters say "wow, this is rich, i can't eat anymore" is "well, hand it over, i've already finished mine. anybody else too weak to finish theirs?" :)
These brownies are so sinful. My daughter made an dark oreo cheesecake yesterday and I couldn't stop eating it.
ReplyDeleteWell done on all your awards.....they are SO well deserved. You are amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteThe brownie however.....are flippin suicidle. I can eat a few.....yip, I don't know where to stop.!
Not great for my diet! But they look amazing. Will bookmark when off diet, although eating one of these will prob mean I am back on diet!
ReplyDeleteEmiline, I'm bookmarking these. Right now. I love brownies and with Oreos... They are irresistible.
ReplyDeleteI have to say they look very rich and decadent. But I would never be able to eat only half a brownie. :)
WOW, this looks amazingly good. I can see why you ate a whole brownie ;)
ReplyDeleteCommon sense would make you believe that when you make an indulgent dessert, you might be turned off from eating it knowing all the bad things that go into it. Well, I personally don't adhere to this as I'm also immune to rich desserts!! :)
ReplyDeleteOK, this is the second oreo dessert I've seen today - it must be a sign!!
ReplyDeleteHi Emiline,

Those look so yummy. I love for real homemade from scratch brownies.
ReplyDeleteOreos, cream cheese and chocolate? You are evil. Deliciously evil. :D
ReplyDeleteI have the same affliction you do. I tend to gobble rich desserts that leave others gagging.
ReplyDeleteAnd like your last post, I also have a problem relating to people my age. My best friends are at least 7 years older than I am. Some of them are 50 years older!
Oh Em. If only I were younger and could indulge without consequences.
ReplyDeleteThose look amazingly wonderful! The richer the better!
ReplyDeleteI bet this would make a great filler to an ice cream. I'm sure it would look cool too.
ReplyDeleteAh! Your brownies are so good to look at!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I call an "instant chocolate headache"... a headache you LOVE! ;)
ReplyDeleteCindy
Is it wrong that I want to marry that brownie?
ReplyDeleteWhy do your brownies look like a blanket I want to cover myself in? Hmm? Hmm? I have never wanted to lick the screen the way I do right now. That's the best piece of food p0rn I've seen in a while.
ReplyDeletei dont think anyone can say no to these !!!
ReplyDeleteO. M. G. THAT LOOKS RIDICULOUS. Do you know how long i have gone without a brownie?! i'm stuck in asia and there are no ovens or real brownies! I NEED THAT BROWNIE!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEmiline - Maybe it is the way you photographed them, but they do indeed look sinful. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm not a big fan of chocolate but those look GOOD! With huge glass of milk I might be swayed to the other (chocolate) side!
ReplyDeleteOh my God! These look so good! Can't wait to try.
ReplyDeleteCandy
these sound so dang good! If I could eat the wheat, I could only eat about 1/4 of one a day, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteOh, for crying out loud. I wish I had one of those right now! For real. I have a box of those chocolate-buttery cookies from Ikea, but they're not really nailing that craving.
ReplyDeleteOther things I like about these brownies are the density and the darkness of the chocolate. There's nothing worse(to me) than a cake-like brownie. These brownies have the density of solid rock, the way it should be.
ReplyDeletei'm on a major hiatus from sweets. but i swear these make me want to break the fast. please do send an entire 16 piece pack! i'd love you for it !! :)
ReplyDeletenice work.
OMG ... brb running to the store to buy ingredients ... YUMMY
ReplyDeleteYou're a brownie genius.
ReplyDeletethese look absolutely out of this world!! just love the flavors emiline!:)
ReplyDeleteOoooooooh - these look toooooo gooooooood!!!
ReplyDeleteBrownies with oreo cookies and cream cheese...mmm...
ReplyDeleteholy cow! I CANNOT wait to make this!!! Of course I really wouldn't fit into my diet considering I'm a "3 oreo bedtime snack" kinda girl. :)
ReplyDeleteMan, if I had some Oreos in the house I would totally be baking right now. These brownies with a cup of strong black coffee would be perfection.
ReplyDeleteYummo! Lokks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWOW that looks so good! I love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sharona May
You left out the part where I said, "screw it," and went on to eat the whole brownie.
ReplyDeleteWOW oh WOW Emiline..you really know how to make me drool!! These brownies are something else.
ReplyDeleteMaria

ReplyDeleteOoooooh Emiline this looks amazing you have me drooling & drooling here - slurp
ReplyDeleteRosie x
I just made these and they are great! I made them for a party so I had my parents taste test them and now my dad wants me to make them for him! Thanks for a wonderful recipe! :-D
ReplyDeleteMkt610, I'm so glad you liked them!
ReplyDeleteEverything about this recipe is just soo right! Oreos, cheescake and brownie in one - yes please!
ReplyDelete(Ps: I've been immune to rich desserts all my life)
I made these this past weekend and they are delicious, they taste like chocolate cheesecake! Only problem I had was that the brownie batter was very thick, it was the texture of brownies before it was even put in the oven. That made it difficult to spread the top layer on top of the cream cheese mixture, and also difficult to make swirls because if you stick a knife in to make swirls, it's like you are cutting the brownies due to the texture. I'd like to make these again since they were so tasty, I just don't understand how to properly spread the top layer or make swirls because of the brownie batter texture since it is not liquid.
