Marbled Nutella Banana Bread
Ingredients:
  • 2 1/3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups mashed ripe banana
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
Instructions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.

In a medium mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, using a mixer on medium speed, beat together banana, butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla until creamy and well combined - about 2 minutes. Beat in eggs until well combined - about 2 minutes. Reduce mixer speed to low and beat in flour mixture until just combined. Divide 1/2 of of the batter into a medium bowl; stir in Nutella until combined.

Alternate spoonfuls of batter into loaf pan until all of the batter is used up. Swirl batter gently with a knife (not too much!). Bake 1 hour or until well risen, deep golden brown, and a toothpick inserted into bread comes out with moist crumbs attached.

Makes 1 loaf

  1. YUM! This would save me the trouble of trying to spread the thick Nutella on the crumbly banana bread. Awesome, Emily!

  11. I made one of your other banana bread recipes a few months ago...the one with peanut butter and a chocolate swirl, and it was awesome. I'll have to try this one the next time I have ripe bananas to use (which is often because I always buy too many!) Looks great!

You are seriously making me consider stealing my roommate's bananas and hiding them from her until they get brown so I can make this!

  26. Yay, I found someone else that shops at Aldi's! I buy most of my baking products there. They have such good prices and quality. Anyhow, would you believe I have a jar of Nutella in the pantry and two over ripe bananas! I also DO NOT care that we are going through another heat wave. I have to make this recipe asap! Thanks Emily!

  32. Your lucky, one jar of Nutella doesn't last long here. I ate it all!
Now, I got to go to the store to buy more to make this bread. Maybe I should get about four jars this time?

  33. Somehow I've missed the nutella train. I guess I was denied this treat as a kid because I've never gotten around to trying it since. I should probably change that because this bread looks scrumptious. Thanks for sharing!

  34. I love how far a jar of Nutella can get you! This sounds awesome, and congrats on the career news, whatever it is!

  37. two of my favorites to make bread...awesome ! the slices look so rich and yummy :D

  38. I like the idea of mixing the Nutella into the batter. I made a ricotta poundcake with a Nutella swirl. It was delicious and decadent but quite rich. Mixing the Nutella into the batter rather than just swirling it in makes for a lighter cake that you can eat every day.

  39. That looks AMAZING! I am deff going to try that....It kind of looks like marble cake

  40. This sounds incredible! I WILL be making this soon! Thanks for sharing =]

  43. Hey,
I made this last weekend and it was de-licious! It was the first time I did a "marbled" recipe, and it turned out great.
I also have some questions that are unrelated to this post. First of all, do you use blogger to host your blog? If so, how come the adress is only .com and not .blogspot? Do you have many options to decorate and change your blog's configuration? Is it possible to create a blog without having adds on the sides?
I'm trying to repare some website and I'm wondering if creating a new one would be more simple..
    Thanks!

  44. how on earth have i gotten so far behind? geez. regardless of my slacking, i'm happy to see this unique and gorgeous loaf of banana bread--nice work!

  45. looks lovely and is there anyone who does not like nutella???

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hi Florianne! Thanks so much for trying the recipe! I'm glad you liked it.

I do use Blogger to host my blog. I bought my own address through Godaddy. (There's an option to do so on Blogger.) Yes, I think you have more freedom to design how you want your blog to look on Blogger. You don't have to have ads on your site.

  47. Making this for the second time...it is soooo yummy! My stash of Nutella was just waiting for a recipe like this. delish!

  48. I bought my first ever jar of nutella last week and this was the first thing i made with it! http://countingmycupcakes.blogspot.com/2011/08/wakey-wakey-time-to-bakey.html

It was sooooo good! I think I ate half the loaf at once.

  49. I would LOVE to make this!!! YUM!!! I just have one question....the instructions mention salt, but there is no salt on the ingredient list!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh no! You're right! I fixed it. :) Thanks for catching that.

    ReplyDelete
  51. THANK YOU:) As much as I love to bake, I'm still not talented enough to figure this kinda stuff out on my own! I have a jar of Nutella and a little girl who loves to help me bake. Guess what we'll be making tomorrow? ;)

  52. i popped this in the oven half an hour ago (its 3:30am here, wicked insomnia) and it smells SOO good. so here i sit, indian style on my kitchen counter, sipping sparkling grape juice and watching Your Highness waiting for this to come out of the oven. i know i won't be able to wait until it cools. yum. thanks for sharing!

  53. I foung out that if u zap the nutella in the microwave, for about 30 secconds than that makes it easier to put on top of the bread almost like a glaze.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Just made this today... delicious!!

  55. I have this in the oven right now and it smells amazing! Can't wait to taste it.

  57. Made this on Friday and by Sunday, its gone! The kids and hubby loved it! Thanks!

  58. I just stumbled upon your blog a week ago! Thank goodness!!! I made this recipe this morning and it came out moist and delicious. I took it to work and received compliments about how 'pretty' it looked! It was definitely not overly sweet, which was nice. I didn't see the salt measurement in the version I printed, but did confirm what was needed by revisiting your blog.

Thanks so much for sharing! I'll be making another one for my church friends soon!!

  59. Unfortunately, the salt is not listed in the printable version of the recipe, so I left it out :( Hopefully it won't make too much difference.

  60. I loved your recipe. Honestly, I tried a few recipes, and yours was hands-down the favorite.
I tried to pin it so that I could reuse your recipe later, using the "pin it" function of pinterest and I got an error message (something about not being able to pin from non-html pages.) And when I use your pin-it button, most of your photos don't show up. Maybe you did that intentionally... but you have such fabulous photos, I would love to see your photo on there!

    1. Hi Kristina! I'm so glad you liked the recipe!
Oh no, I did not do that intentionally. I installed that pin button myself, and wasn't sure if it even worked correctly. So I guess I know my answer! I'm sorry... I will try to figure it out.
