IMAG0202

I made this purty flower today in school.  It smells like chocolate.

I dipped the bottom of the petals in chocolate and “glued” them to a base made out of chocolate.  I had to hold the petals while they dried, or use objects to prop them up against.  Somehow I lucked out on this, and it actually turned out well!

I also made additional petals by painting tempered chocolate (using a pairing knife) onto acetate strips and placing them into this mold.  These will go on another flower.

No, these are not hamburger patties.
This is the center of the flower, I think.  it’s dyed-finely ground white chocolate pressed into molds.

Voila!   We will glue two of these together to form a sphere.

That is all.  I’m finally caught up with everything, thank goodness.

My job interview/stage went well today!  I can’t believe I’m still going after waking up at five.  I helped out at a bakery this morning, and made cupcake batter (from scratch!), scoop cupcake and muffin batter, and pipe frosting.  I think I did okay!  I will keep you updated.

    1. I haven't learned how to frost like that. They called it "flat frosting" and they did it was a mini flat spatula. As for the balloons, they piped blobs of frosting using a small tip on a piping bag.

  2. That is a beautiful chocolate flower (although for an instant I was wondering why you photographed a roasted artichoke hehe). You go girl.

  5. Your cupcakes look pretty and festive! I am awed by your chocolate flower skill -- I think I'd run into trouble with that.
