Strawberry Shortcake Milkshake
Ingredients:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
2-3 tablespoons milk
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup vanilla ice cream
3/4 cup milk
Directions:
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a cookie sheet with cooking spray.
In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt; knead in butter, using fingertips until well incorporated. Stir in milk until combined and dough starts to clump together. Place the crumbles on the cookie sheet. Bake 15-20 minutes or until light golden brown.
To make the shake, combine strawberries, ice cream and milk in a blender; blend until smooth. Stir in the shortcake crumbles, pour into glasses, and serve.
Makes 1 large shake or 2 smaller shakes
Life is better with real whipped cream.
ReplyDeleteOh I know - isn't it amazing?
DeleteI am a HUGE fan of milkshakes though I don't let myself have them enough. Not sure why since they're OBVIOUSLY calcium-rich health food. This looks so berrylicious.
ReplyDeleteThe fat is good for you too! :)
Deletethis looks delicious, emily--just my kind of shake! happy to hear about your move to st louis, too. i'm with you--it's hard to stay away from family for long! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Grace!
DeleteStrawberry milkshakes are my favorite kind! I don't know if you have Potbelly's where you live, but I used to work next to one and got into a very dangerous strawberry milkshake habit.
ReplyDeleteGood luck apartment hunting!

DeleteI can't remember the last time I had a milkshake. Yours looks so good - way better than any milkshake I ever had. And fries dipped into milkshakes is THE BEST!
ReplyDeleteI agree! We should have milkshakes more often.
DeleteAre you too young to remember Strawberry Shortcake dolls? That's the only thing missing!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely not! I loved playing with strawberry shortcake dolls! They were my favorite. Did your daughter play with them?
DeleteThat. Looks. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angela!
